Designer Otto Sprencz developed and built this bicycle trailer for a private client in Canada in collaboration with https://droplet-trailer.com, with our consulting services and suspension components from Hinterher. The bicycle trailer prototype was completed in January 2025 following several successful test rides. Unfortunately, the client was no longer able to realize his dream of cycling across North America to Mexico with his bicycle and trailer. He suffered a severe heart attack in February 2025, from which he was unfortunately unable to recover.
After the project was completed, Otto Sprencz founded a new company—partly with the intention of eventually mass-producing the bicycle trailer. The direct, centered connection of the Hinterher overrun brake via a short center drawbar was a very well-executed solution. For a trailer weighing an estimated 100 kg and a planned tour across North America, installing the overrun brake was absolutely essential. Surprisingly, the axle’s relatively rearward position does not result in an increased tongue weight (which would absolutely need to be avoided), since a refrigerator, batteries, and a water tank were installed at the rear. This results in an even weight distribution—contrary to first visual impressions.
The last thing we heard about the bicycle trailer is that it was sold to Saskatchewan—a Canadian province. Unfortunately, we have no other information regarding construction details, weight, prices, etc.
