130 Kilometer am Tag: Mit dem Transporter und “etwas” Gepäck auf Jugendfreizeit
Typically, a large recreational bike trip with teenagers looks like this: The group rides, while a van or bus follows behind, transporting the heavy luggage, food, and tents from one stop to the next. Maximilian’s account shows us that there’s another way—namely, being completely self-sufficient and relying solely on muscle power.
As a special education teacher with Evangelische Jugendhilfe, he went on tour in 2022 and 2024. His rig—consisting of a Bullitt cargo bike and our large Transporter 3—replaced the traditional support vehicle. We were truly impressed that he managed to cover an impressive 130 kilometers in a single day.

Here are a few photos from the two cycling trips I went on myself. They were taken in 2022 and 2024. The Bullitt is my own bike; I was able to borrow the trailer from a friend in Würzburg. In 2022, we rode upstream along the Rhine Cycle Route from Mainz, but only made it as far as Mannheim/Heidelberg.
In 2024, we also drove the route from Mainz, but went further since our destination was Europapark. In one day, I drove just under 130 km with this combination. It was tiring, but despite the size and weight, it was surprisingly easy with this great trailer. That’s why I’m absolutely convinced of your product. There was never a problem, a defect, or anything of the sort. The trailer handled all the routes smoothly and without any issues. Thank you very much for the great product!
Accordingly, I’m currently trying to get the bike trailers for the residential group where I work, and I’m also considering buying one for personal use, since we’re a family with two small children who have consciously chosen not to own a car and do everything by bike—we really value that flexibility.
