Mit dem Fahrrad in die Berge
Winter Cycling at Its Best
The JDAV Youth Education Center in Bad Hindelang is trying to use public transportation or bicycles instead of driving to the mountains, thereby contributing to the transition to sustainable mobility and climate protection. In particular, the often tedious and long approach to the mountains can be handled wonderfully with the right bikes and trailers. That’s why the youth education center has purchased two Hinterher bike trailers, an Hxxl and an Hxxxl. It has also set up a bike shed equipped with four e-bikes, several so-called “organic” bikes, and its own bike repair shop.
And as you can see, it can hold quite a bit.
The entire (success) story appeared in *Panorama* 2/2023, the magazine of the German Alpine Club. The last paragraph is particularly noteworthy: “Of course, it’s always more convenient to get in the car and just drive off (...) But effective climate protection will require at least a little effort from all of us. (...) In the long run, however, investments in modern, climate-friendly energy supplies and mobility infrastructure will be less expensive than cushioning the even higher costs of the consequences of climate change.”
We would like to thank Marcus Hofmann for the photos and Niko Lindlar for the article.
