Wenn das Pony den Drahtesel ersetzt: Ein ganz besonderer Hxxl
Normally, the roles are clearly defined for us: A bike trailer belongs behind a “bike.” But every now and then, customers come to us with ideas we would never have thought of ourselves. In this case, the question was: Can we modify an Hxxl bike trailer so that it can be pulled by a Shetland pony? The customer was planning a hike lasting several weeks and wanted to roll her luggage rather than carry it.
Thanks to our modular system, we didn’t have to reinvent the wheel—we just had to focus on the details. We attached two of our SL drawbar mounts for handcart operation to the left and right sides of the trailer using stainless steel reinforcement brackets. The actual manual work on the drawbar linkage was then carried out on our trusty old three-roller bending machine. There, we bent the linkage in several steps in three dimensions until it matched the customer’s dimensioned sketch exactly. It is precisely this flexibility of a small-batch manufacturer that makes such unique designs possible without costs skyrocketing due to a massive 3D design phase.
After the first test in the stable, Henrika wrote to us:
“Good morning, Peter,
. I was at the stable just yesterday—and again late—so here are my first impressions. Little Birke (that’s the pony’s name) took to the cart right away, and it fits perfectly—so my conclusion is: You’re doing a great job!”I brought a "test load" of 30 kg of wood pellets with me today, and it went great both uphill and downhill
THANK YOU, and kudos for your work!
Best regards,
Henrika”
