Yet another great photo showcasing the capabilities of bike trailers equipped with Hinterher components. The whole setup worked, and there was no accident. However, this type of loading should only be replicated with caution—prudent riding is, of course, a prerequisite, as is compliance with all regulations. The maximum load height was likely exceeded here. And no: This photo is not proof that Germany is on its way to becoming a developing country. In fact, it wasn’t even taken in Germany. ;-)
We at Hinterher definitely think it’s great when someone doesn’t need a car for a transport like this. And we’re also assuming that this wasn’t some grandma who moved from the Black Forest to Berlin in the winter.

I have already bought components from Hinterher twice to build a custom DIY trailer. I’m really pleased with the quality of the design and craftsmanship—they exceeded my expectations and made designing and building my trailer much easier.

We successfully moved over 80 kg of boxes and objects on flat ground at low speed. Moving the sofa by bike has been a real head-turner: the best reaction I’ve gotten so far was “Megacool!” We initially tried to move the sofa frame with a minivan, but it wouldn’t fit, so this is one instance where a bike trailer was superior to a car! One thing that may not be obvious from the picture is that the entire frame is made of 25mm x 2mm square aluminum and bolted together using tri-joints following the Gridbeam pattern (https://gridbeam.xyz/). The frame is made stronger and more rigid with two sheets of 12mm marine plywood—which also serve as the trailer’s deck—with a third small section underneath so that the bulk of the cargo’s weight rests directly on the axle. Using the Gridbeam pattern has made it easier to experiment with various configurations. The picture shows the configuration I finally settled on, which is quite versatile for moving boxes and large objects. Thanks to the removable arm and wheels, it’s easier to navigate the narrow staircase and low ceiling leading to the basement where we store the bike and trailer.
I had to build adapter plates to match the hole patterns of the arm, aluminum holders, and the folding feet to the Gridbeam pattern at a width of 25 mm (therefore, holes must be spaced in multiples of 25 mm) using 6.5 mm holes for M6 bolts. Perhaps the process could be sped up for future customers by offering adapter plates directly in your store?
