Hxxxl light
The Transportation Marvel
The Hxxxl light is our bike trailer with the largest cargo area. It can hold three Euroboxes (60 × 40 cm) in a row—as well as large dogs or bulky, extra-long loads. This is made possible by our exceptionally sturdy SL drawbar system and a robust two-legged kickstand. Despite its capacity, it remains fully suitable for everyday use on bike paths and in city traffic—and when parked upright, it folds flat into a compact package that fits in any basement.

What would you like to transport?
Choose what you want to transport—we'll place your load to scale in the actual trailer and show you which model is the right fit. With the center of gravity over the axle and an optional drawbar extension.

Please note: We do not show the height of the load here. In practice, proper load distribution is also important. Errors in the illustration of the load are subject to change.
Real-world examples
The Hxxxl light is the “station wagon” of bike trailers: easy to ride, narrow enough for any bike path—yet still incredibly spacious. Three Euroboxes fit one behind the other and one on top of the other. Our customers show us every day just what’s possible.
Flat package
The Hxxxl light can be folded into an extremely flat package in less than ten seconds. The wheels can be removed with a single click and securely fixed in two matching holes in the loading area. The drawbar is also very easy to remove. This means that the Hxxxl light takes up hardly any space in the basement, trunk, or when traveling, yet is immediately ready for use again.
Handcart
With the optional handcart function, the Hxxxl light can be used on foot by switching the drawbar into a different position.
Area of application & load capacity
The Hxxxl light can be configured for two different applications and load capacities. The standard configuration includes a rigid stainless-steel axle held in place by two high-quality aluminum clamping blocks. The drawbar is from the heavy-duty line and is mounted in a robust aluminum drawbar mount. The Hxxxl light becomes even more robust thanks to the ultra-rigid stainless steel drawbar, which works in conjunction with the specially developed Hinterher coupling system, which is also milled from stainless steel.

Suspension
If you’d like, you can also configure your Hinterher with suspension. This high-performance suspension system outperforms anything previously available for bike trailers and can handle loads of up to 100 kg. The suspension not only protects your cargo or your dog from bumps, but it also lets you ride with the trailer much more comfortably and quickly.
Enormous suspension travel for the worst roads
Hydraulic damping for smooth driving
Adjustable weight ranges
Boxes & Add-ons
Everything fits. This makes the Hxxxl light incredibly flexible. We also offer custom dd-ons such as side panels, aluminum boxes, and bike transport rails.
Overrun brake
Any Hinterher trailer can be equipped with a so-called overrun brake upon request. This independent braking system ensures that the trailer slows down automatically as soon as you brake on your bike. Especially when used frequently with heavy loads—whether for personal or commercial use—the overrun brake offers a significant safety advantage.

Why coose Hinterher
Rectangular loading area designed to meet industry standards for maximum compatibility with Euroboxes, folding crates, and Systainers.
Can be completely dismantled in 10 seconds and stored compactly.
Full-surface, play-free connections between drawbar and trailer instead of loose screw connections and material weakening. Axles made of stainless steel instead of aluminum. Attention to material compatibility through the use of high-quality plain bearings from IGUS.
Upright wheels that, unlike angled wheels, hardly splash water and dirt onto the trailer. No uneven wear on tires, axles, and bearings.
Strongest and most sophisticated coupling technology on the market, with a load capacity of up to 150 kg. No child trailer technology limited to 45 kg on cargo trailers!
Since 2012, Hinterher has been pushing boundaries of what is possible with biycle trailers with its unique modular system.
"The Hinterher is so full of clever ideas and solutions. You don't know which one to be most excited about."

If something breaks
Every one of our bicycle trailers is designed to be extremely easy to repair should a component ever become damaged or worn. All parts are easily accessible and can be replaced using basic tools. Every single component—even the industrial bearings in the wheel hub—is available individually from us.
Award-winning
We have received numerous awards for our innovative bike trailers and our sustainable business and production practices. Our bike trailers have also been tested frequently in the trade press. You can read press reviews here.
Regional manufacturing, sustainable business practices
Almost all components of Hinterher bicycle trailers are manufactured in our neighbourhood. A few components are manufactured in northern Italy and Sweden. Short delivery routes, high environmental and social standards, local value creation and outstanding expertise characterize our manufacturing process. Each Hinterher is assembled by our team here in western Munich according to customer specifications. Manufacturing products that are durable and repairable when necessary is the core concept of a sustainable product for us.
FAQs
-
The Hinterher is very easy to pull. You’ll notice it most when starting off; otherwise, our bike trailers handle very neutrally. This is due to the low mounting position of our trailers on the bike, which has virtually no effect on riding dynamics. Even when loaded, the Hinterher is surprisingly easy to ride. Compared to cargo bikes in particular, even inexperienced cyclists can handle a trailer more easily. Please note, however, that the same rules apply to riding with a trailer as to driving a car: Ride cautiously and adapt to the conditions! Carefully test your trailer’s handling in various scenarios to get a feel for its capabilities—but also its limits.
-
You’ll need to attach a Weber coupler to your bike’s rear axle—either on its own or together with your bike’s kickstand—just once. The coupler then remains on the bike permanently. This allows you to connect the trailer to your bike at any time with a single “click” in just a few seconds.
We use the high-quality Weber hitch 'Made in Germany,' which has been the gold standard in the cycling industry for many years and is designed to be extremely robust.
-
The good news: We can install a high-quality Weber hitch on almost any bike. Generally, there are two places where the hitch can be installed on the bike: on the rear wheel axle or together with the bike's kickstand, if it meets the requirements.
We'd be happy to advise you on choosing the right clutch. Please send us a photo of your rear wheel (taken from the left side as you face the direction of travel).
If you would like to check for yourself which Weber hitch might fit, you can look it up in our coupling guide (PDF) here.
