Hxxl

The great all-rounder

If you want or need to transport a little more in your life, take a closer look at the Hxxl. It is about the size of a two-seater children's bike trailer, but still has enormous potential. We designed it so that two Euroboxes (60 x 40 cm) fit behind each other (and on top of each other) on the loading area. But it can also hold four beverage crates, a lawn mower or equipment for a big family outing. With our upgrades, you can configure the Hxxl to be a totally professional trailer with a load capacity of over 100 kg.

  • 85 x 62 x 8 cm loading area (L x W x H)

  • 11.9 kg total weight

  • 20-inch wheels

  • Usable as a bike trailer and handcart as standard.

  • 65 kg maximum total weight

Handcart

You can convert the Hxxl from a bicycle trailer to a handcart in just a few seconds. To do this, simply move the drawbar to a different position. Thanks to the integrated stand, you can also easily load or park it as a handcart.

Flat package

The Hxxl can be folded into an extremely flat package in less than ten seconds. The wheels can be removed with a single click and securely fixed in two matching holes in the loading area. The drawbar is also very easy to remove. This means that the Hxxl takes up hardly any space in the basement, trunk or when traveling, yet is immediately ready to be used again.

Everything fits

The Hxxl has an extremely flexible and robust loading area. It can hold whatever fits on it. Crates, boxes, and bags cannot slide off thanks to the side edge. And you can also put bulky and oversized items on the loading area without raising the center of gravity, precisely because the side edge is so low. We have optimized the Hxxl for the use with Euroboxes (60x40 cm). These ingenious boxes are available in a wide variety of heights and versions, for example from the Bavarian company AUER Packaging.

Area of application & load capacity

You can configure the Hxxl for three different areas of application and load capacities. In the standard version, we install a rigid stainless steel axle held in place by two high-quality aluminum clamping blocks. The drawbar mount is also reinforced with a milled aluminum bracket. For even higher loads, you can switch to the robust heavy-duty drawbar system (SL), which can either be equipped with a robust aluminium drawbar or our most robust stainless steel drawbar.

Overrun brake

Bicycle drawbar with overrun brake

Every Hinterher trailer can optionally be equipped with an inertia (overrun) brake. This independent braking system automatically slows the trailer as soon as you apply the bicycle’s brakes. Especially when carrying heavy loads on a regular basis—whether for private or commercial use—the overrun brake provides a significant increase in safety and control.

Accessories

Who knows what the future holds? That's why the Hxxl can be customized even better for a wide variety of activities and needs with our extensive range of accessories. Now or even in ten years' time.

Regional manufacturing, sustainable business practices

Almost all components of the Hinterher are manufactured in our immediate vicinity. Only a small number of parts are sourced from Northern Italy and Sweden. Short supply routes, high environmental and social standards, local value creation, and outstanding technical expertise define our manufacturing approach.

Each Hinterher is assembled by our team in the west of Munich according to customer specifications. For shipping, we reuse cardboard and process it with our “green monster” into protective packing material. For us, true sustainability means building products that are made to last—and that can be repaired when needed.

FAQs

  • The Hinterher is very easy to pull. You will notice it most when starting off, but otherwise our bike trailers behave very neutrally. This is due to the low mounting of our trailers on the bike, which means that the riding dynamics are hardly affected.

Even when loaded, a Hinterher is easy to ride. Compared to cargo bikes in particular, even inexperienced cyclists find it easier to handle a trailer.

Please note that the same rules apply to riding with a trailer as to driving a car: ride carefully and adapt to the conditions! Carefully test the handling characteristics of your trailer in different scenarios to get a feel for its capabilities, but also its limitations.

  • You only need to attach a Weber hitch to your bike's rear wheel axle once, or together with your bike's kickstand. The hitch then remains permanently on the bike. This allows the trailer to be connected to the bike with a 'click' in just a few seconds, anytime.

We use the high-quality Weber hitch 'Made in Germany,' which has been the gold standard in the cycling industry for many years and is designed to be extremely robust.

  • The good news: We can install a high-quality Weber hitch on almost any bike. Generally, there are two places where the hitch can be installed on the bike: on the rear wheel axle or together with the bike's kickstand, if it meets the requirements.

We are happy to advise you on choosing the right hitch. Please send us a photo of your rear wheel (taken from the left side in the direction of travel).

If you would like to check for yourself which Weber hitch might fit, you can look it up in our coupling guide (PDF) here.

You can find even more questions in our extensive FAQs. Recommendations for the right bike trailer can also be found in our guide. Our gallery is also often helpful, where you can view photos of different models or themes.
